Mission Statement
To support the roleplaying and boardgaming community and industry by hosting an annual convention that brings gamers together in the spirit of competition and fellowship.

Hmmm, very interesting. Columbia isn't too far away for me, so this might be a possibility. No promises for now, but we'll definitely put it on the list, and see when it gets a little closer. Especially since we have been invited!

We'll see, looks like I won't be able to make ConCarolina in Charlotte so I might add this to the list of things I want, but can't afford.

Sounds like fun. I'd be up for submitting something for publication, too. Keep us up on the details of that.

Will do. We are working on the dealers information at the moment and the rules for submissions for art work and writing and kids track. As far as artwork and written material we want to make sure people understand that we in no way will claim ownership of their property and are working with the legal staff to make sure the artists/writers who submit material to us are protected from us and themselves.

Our goal is to promote this hobby.

Keep in mind that registering, even if you don't attend will have long term savings. Each year after the first this will be a 4 day event and registration will probably go up. Getting in now locks you into the $40 rate for life, right now, until today 5pm you can lock in that rate for only $29. We will offer future promotions, but they will all be $30. We will be offering them the weeks of ConCarolinas, MACE, GenCon and DragonCon as we are attending these events. We will also offer them for smaller events like NONCON this week.
If you don't register this week keep an eye on the site, because you really are not going to want to miss the opportunity to lock in the $40 rate.

I'm actually in pre-production for a fantasy film I've written and I'm looking to tie it in with an RPG company and release a campaign book and stuff. Any ideas? I really want to involve this film with cons and the gamer community, get it out there.

You are not talking to an expert by any means, but, we at SCARAB have seen a ba-zillion websites for publishers and game manufacturers - thousands. We had no idea when we started this there were actually that many companies making and producing games. There are a large number of game manufacturers who are self publishing and distributing their products via .pdf download. That may be a great way to get started. It requires low start up capitol and has huge potential for distribution.

Prepaying for your room has a huge benefit. If you book the hotel room online at Magnuson Hotels website within the next couple of weeks you can get your room for $47.20 per night for a single king or two double beds or $52 a night for a single king or two double bed suite. Conditions are you have to prepay for the room and there is no refund. This makes the price of the room for the entire weekend less than the price of one night at just about all of the other cons in the whole of the southeast. If you're planning on coming to SCARAB, you're crazy if you miss this opportunity!
