Well, Vandread went away fast, so now it's Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. I have to say, it moves pretty fast and all of the characters work -- I would throw any of them down that cliff (tho could do without that dude flirting with Kamina or Simon.)

I watched the Vision of Escaflowne over the winter break, and I really enjoyed it. It's one that I wouldn't mind owning for to rewatch. I loved the complex characters and plot points, even if the animation style took a little getting used to.

It's weird because a lot of people would define it as a mecha, which I generally dislike, but in this show they were more like advanced armor, and seemed to serve a purpose. Overall, it had an interesting balance between shonen and shojo themes, which is really rare in anime.

Me too Eve. TTGL just came up to one of the privileged spots in my library. That spiral power idea is a bit out there but it sort of works. Extra points go to the mangaka for stretching a concept to the limits --no less, no more-- and then stopping right there.

(Wish Kishimoto would learn from him).

I started watching Shin Mazinger Shougeki Z-Hen!, as TTGL approached its ending... man, I'm so hooked. It brings bits and pieces from other Go Nagai works into the Mazinger mythos, strengthens the link to the Greek mythology, fills some old plot holes rather creatively, and gives us with very strong characters. This is now my favorite version of Mazinger.

For Tranzor/Mazinger fans there's even more good stuff coming. A continuation --Shin Great Mazinger-- looms just above the horizon, and Go Nagai has promised in a conference that Mazinkaiser is going to come out of the OVA and into TV. Oh yeah, poppa likes.

Thinking I'd have some silly fun, I watched some Lucky Star after a friend's suggestion. The intro was random but energetic, and the fact that it was described as an "observational" kinda show made me curious. Then the first episode came up and it was all a long conversation about daily issues. I gave it a chance with a second episode -- no signs of a plot. Now, I have nothing against idle chatter -- as long as I can participate. I can see where the many otaku-friendly references, cultural discussion and likable characters (that they certainly got right -- and Konata's personality results strangely familiar) are expected to appeal to many folks.

I'm just not the kind who'd watch a talk show or a soap, though I found myself

I don't know what to watch after Shin Mazinger. Any suggestions, specially seinen?

I couldn't stand Lucky Star. I wanted to launch a few throwing stars at each of the characters even after the first episode. I know that others <3 the show, but it just grated on my nerves. :x

Hee hee. Did I sugar-coat it too much?

I will openly admit that I've REALLY HATED --with chemical green flames of plasmatic bile-- some shonen and shojo in my life.

I think I'm gonna go looking for FMA Brotherhood. I liked FMA quite a bit, but I heard (somewhere) that Brotherhood sticks closer to the manga.

Cub: Have you seen Kotetsushin Jeeg? I've got it downloaded but still haven't gotten around to watching it yet. As a fellow super robot fan, it would be one you would enjoy I would think.

Being already a Rumiko Takahashi fan, I was kind of looking forward to InuYasha, and it wasn't too hard for a friend to talk me into it. So far I'm digging it -- perhaps (*gasp*) even more than Ranma 1/2.

@Voltron -- I'll make sure to check it out. Thanks for the heads up!

I am currently trying to find "Hakugei: Legend of the Moby Dick" volume 3
I am a geek and proud of it

It is?
Sounds like it's time for me to get back into it then.

No problem Cub, glad you're enjoying! I need to watch it and somehow see Shin Mazinger Z.

Super Robot shows are my favorite genre of anime, if you couldn't guess. Now we just need a remake/sequel/retelling of UFO Robot Grendizer/Grandizer!

Unfortunately my desktop is down and i prefer to watch stuff on it instead of the laptop, grrrr......hopefully I can save my hard drives though.
