I'm doing a really neat Nintendo themed costume.

I could use some ideas here. I think I got this more or less nailed down but here's whats up. I'm going to make a unique costume that pays respect to the old NES Game System. The original 8-bit deal I grew up with. I got an old Power Pad that I'm making a cape out of, a Light Zaper I'm going to wear in a holster and one of the original controllers I'm going to wear as a belt. If I can get my hands on one I'm going to wear a Power Glove and if I go all out a Virtual Boy converted to a normal visor. I have a Super Mario 1 Up Mushroom t-shirt and some Super Mario Brothers boxers. I was thinking maybe some Nintendo themed pajama pants and maybe some slippers or something.

Is there anything else I can do for this idea? I'm already going to look like a total dork more than likely(but eh it's a con so who cares.) Also nobody happens to own a Power Glove they'd sell and/or give me do they?

Don't know where around you might have any but the mario bros/duck hunt cartridges are typically extremely cheap at places that sell old games. You might be able to do something with them. Or perhaps a bandoleer of cartridges?

A bandolier of cartridges is a REALLY good idea. I'd have to pick my games. For classic sake I could go with Excitebike, Mario/Duck Hunt, Legend of Zelda(gold case), and maybe Kid Icarus of Bionic Commando. How I'd go about stringing them up without it looking to cluttery is something I'd have to work around of course.

Alternatively what about getting a big "pimp" hat and with a purple hat belt and using something for some bling. I have the hat already....

You never know what you'll find at a Goodwill store, and ask if they have any stuff in the backroom of the kind your looking for. There is not a great resale value there, so they might have a pile of stuff that is not out.

There's a nice Goodwill Electronics here in Charlotte that sells the old Nintendo stuff.

Hey Strider, if you ended up doing this costume I would love to see a pic of it.

At GenCon, I saw a couple of people dressed as Tetris pieces. Incredible idea, and well executed.
